WWF: World Wildlife Fund

Hello!

A moment ago, I asked my brother, what does WWF stands for. He replied, World Wrestling Federation. Which of course is the wrong answer for our topic right now. WWF, in fact, stands for World Wildlife Fund. It is currently the world's leading conservation organisation,working in 100 countries. They have been protecting the future of nature for more than 45 years.

Their missions consists of :

  • protecting natural areas and wild populations of plants and animals, including endangered species;
  • promoting sustainable approaches to the use of renewable natural resources; and
  • promoting more efficient use of resources and energy and the maximum reduction of pollution.
Right now, they have a goal, which is by 2020, they will conserve 19 of the world's most important natural places, which we can play a part in to help them achieve that goal.

WWF also protect wildlife, preserve habits and empower people to conserve resources while improving the people livelihoods.

They have been trying to protect the endangered species ever since 1961 but their work is not done yet. This is because human activities which cause destruction to the animals and also increasing the rate of species extinction.

All of you can visit their website, which is www.worldwildlife.org
There, you will be able to read up news on what's happening to the endangered animals. There are also articles on what they are doing right now, for example, they have successfully moved a pair of rhino to their new home in India. Other than the articles, there are also a few facts that you can learn about the endangered animals, like chimpanzees, orang utan, giant panda, tiger and vaquita(I've never heard of this animal before, and I bet some of you dont too. This just shows, how endangered the animals are).

Other than that, if you have extra cash, you can contribute by adopting an animal (I always wanted to do one) or donating to them, or even better, you can buy products that are animal-free or animal-testing free.

Here's a video from WWF regarding the conservation of turtles.

For fun, you can even do up this quiz.
